Manika Saha has completed her B.E. (Electrical) from NIT Agartala. She was awarded University GOLD medal for Masters in Control System Engineering from Jadavpur University. She has received her Ph.D degree in 2014 from Jadavpur University.
Was awarded with Certificate of Excellence and cash prize by IIT Bombay for being one of the top performers from all over India, in AICTE approved FDP on "Use of ICT in Education for online and blended Learning", under MHRD.
She was appointed by IIT Bombay as "Associate Faculty" to mentor all India based faculties who are part of the FDP programme under the aegis of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission for Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) in ’Foundation Program in ICT for Education (FDP101x)’ and ’Pedagogy for online and blended Teaching-Learning Process (FDP201x)’.
Her research interest includes target tracking, various nonlinear filtering and estimation techniques in electro –chemical energy storage device (mainly, supercapacitor), stochastic pacing therapy of atrial fibrillation prevention (biomedical), and control applications in robotics. She has published several research papers and have more than 17 years of teaching and research experience.

MOUSUMI BHATTACHARYYA

Mousumi Bhattacharyya is presently working as an Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata. She is pursuing Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Sister Nivedita University. She received the Master of Technology in Computer Technology from the JadavpurUiversity in 2009. She has 18 years of teaching experience. She is a member of CSI chapter, Kolkata.Her research area is sentiment analysis, deep learning and machine learning.

SWARUP KUMAR GHOSH

Swarup Kr Ghosh is presently working as an Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata. He is pursuing Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Maulana AbulKalam Azad University of Technology. His Ph.D. thesis submission is under process. He received the Master of Technology in Information Technology from the University of Calcutta in 2013. His teaching experience comprises 8 years and 9 years in research. He has published more than 30 research articles in various reputed journals (SCI/SCIE/ESCI) and conference proceedings. He is also a reviewer of some reputed journals like IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, IEEE Access, Artificial Intelligence Review—Springer, Multimedia Tools and Applications—Springer, IET system biology, IET image processing, The Computer journal- Oxford Academic, International Journal of Image and Graphics. His research interests include Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Medical Imaging, Machine Learning and Soft Computing.

Joy Dutta is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata. He holds a BSc degree in Physics (Honours), followed by Post BSc BTech and MTech in Computer Science & Engineering from Calcutta University. He is a recipient of Government of India’s prestigious full-time Research Fellowship, viz., “Visvesvaraya PhD Fellowship” of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) for pursuing his full-time research from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jadavpur University and currently awaiting for his PhD degree from the University.

Mr. Dutta has the exposure of working in both the industry as well as in academia. His research interest is primarily in the domain of Internet of Things (IoT). He has rich experience in the domain of Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Data Analytics and Smart City based applications for social good. He is a member of IEEE and also an active researcher in this domain. Dr. ANIRBAN MITRA

Dr. Anirban Mitra has received Bachelor of Science (with honors) degree in Computer Science in 2005. He has completed Master of Science in Computer science and Master of Technology in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Calcutta, India in 2007 & 2009 respectively. He is awarded Doctor of Philosophy for his research in the domain of Medical Image Processing from the University of Calcutta in 2021. The topic of his PhD was “Glaucoma Analysis & Detection from Retinal Images”.Currently, He is working in the position of Assistant Professor at Sister Nivedita University in the department of Computer Science and Engineering. Since 2009 to 2021, he worked for the Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Academy of Technology as an Assistant Professor. He was also appointed as Vice-Chief-Coordinator for “Lecture Plan Review Committee” of this institute since 2014 to the last date.His research interests cover Medical Image Processing, Geometric Algebra, Cryptography and IOT. ASMITA ROY

Asmita Roy did her M.Sc in Computer Science from St. Xaviers College, Kolkata. She received a M.Tech degree in Information Technology from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. She is a Silver medalist from the University. She was awarded the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) (a Govt. of India project assisted by the World Bank) scholarship for carrying out her PhD. work from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal. She served the University as a Research Assistant in the department of Computer Science of Engineering for 3 years. She has submitted her Thesis and is waiting for her degree.


She was previously associated as Assistant Professor in some of the University affiliated colleges. She has an adequate experience in teaching students of different disciplines. SADIP MIDYA

Sadip Midya has done his M.Tech in Information Technology from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (Formerly WBUT). He has also received a M.Sc degree in Computer Science from St.Xaviers College, Kolkata. He was appointed as a Research Assistant from the year 2017 to 2021, under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) (a Govt. of India project assisted by the World Bank) at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, where he is registered for completing his Phd Degree in Computer Science and Engineering. He has submitted his PhD thesis to the university and is currently waiting for his degree. His research areas include Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks, Internet of Vehicles and Vehicular Clouds.

Mr. Midya has taught for 3 years in Netaji Nagar Day College (Affiliated to Calcutta University) as Guest Lecturer in the Computer Science Department. Dr. SAYANTANI SEN

Ms. Sayantani Sen obtained her B. Sc. Hons degree in Physics, B. Tech. in Information Technology and M. Tech. in Radio Physics and Electronics from the University of Calcutta in 2008, 2011 and 2013 respectively. She has recently submitted her Ph. D. thesis on the development of ultraviolet optoelectronic devices based on AlGaN alloys grown by molecular beam epitaxy and is awaiting her degree from the University of Calcutta. She has published research papers in several peer reviewed journals and has presented her work at prominent conferences both in India as well as abroad.

Q: What do students learn in “Robotics and Automation Engineering” at Sister Nivedita University?

Ans: The robotics is a combined branch of engineering and science which deals with the study of development, operation, and control of intelligent robots. Robotics engineering is a combination of computer science, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. The robotics technology is used for the development of machines which can perform a complex human task in a very efficient way.

Q:What do you mean by Automation?

Ans: Industrial automation or Automation is the use of control systems, such as computers or robots, and information technologies for handling different processes and machinery in an industry to replace a living being in such operations. It is the second step beyond mechanization in Industrial work.

Q:What is robotics engineering?

Ans:Robotics engineering is a field of study which focuses on the process of building machines that replicate human actions. A robotics engineer creates the autonomous machine for industries such as mining, manufacturing, automotive, defence services and more.

Q: What is the scope of Robotics and Automation Engineering?

Ans:
• Robotics and Automation Engineering is an interdisciplinary subject and hence students could study and can work in various disciplines. It combines Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Electronics engineering.
• It is a new stream and as many companies are hiring different people for different specializations, a graduate in this field is good for multi-tasking, in addition, as an emerging field, the chances of research and evolution leading to newer inventions and hence opportunities are much more.
•In the forseeable future, all disciplines would rely on robotics from medical to military, from entertainment to education, thus creating a huge career prospects from research to technical work in this field.
• Most of the modern industries have automated manufacturing systems, from small scale to a very large industries.

Q: Name of the fields where the robots can be used.

Ans: Now-a-days, the robots can be used to most of the areas to provide efficient work with the highest precision and in less time. So, there are many fields where robots can be used in day to day as well like military area, industrial area, agricultural area, domestic area, medical areas, and in research.

Q: What are the job roles of a robotics and automation engineer?

Ans:Robotics engineers can research, develop, design, and build mechanical devices, robotics systems, and applications that are implemented to perform a variety of tasks in industries such as manufacturing, mining etc. They can program and develop software which can be used to operate them. They use artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts to make it intelligent and autonomous.
