School of International Languages

It is an acknowledged fact that a knowledge of at least one international language is today becoming important in ways never before realized. Globalization, ‘globalization’ and the opening up of national borders to world-wide trade means that more and more corporate houses and business-employers are looking to hire people with foreign language skills. However, even as more and more people need to learn a foreign language – either for employment requirements or even for personal reasons – facilities for truly professional training in languages continue to be either inaccessible or inadequate.

SNU Foreign Language

It is with a vision of fulfilling this social and economic need that Sister Nivedita University has started its own School of Languages. This University which is part of the renowned educational conglomerate of Techno India Group, is offering courses in CHINESE, JAPANESE, SPANISH, GERMAN, FRENCH, and (for the first time in an Indian University) in ESPERANTO (the 'international auxiliary language' created to enable people from different language backgrounds to communicate).

What is special about the language courses offered by Sister Nivedita University is the CONTENT of the instruction, the QUALITY of the teachers, the MODE of instruction, and the INFRASTRUCTURE available. The teaching of each course will cover the provision of study materials, the employment of audio-visual aids for easier and faster language learning, and individual attention provided by the teachers.

Headed by Professor Subir Dhar (experienced former Director of the School of Languages and Culture, RBU), the SNU School of Languages offers specially designed courses for those already in employment, for all aspiring professionals, for students wishing to acquire a foreign-language skill as a complement in their CVs, and for just about anyone wishing to read or to write or to talk in a non-Indian language. There are no age restrictions and enrollment is open to all interested in learning a foreign language within a short time.

On offer is also the convenience of a range of courses starting from (1) a one-semester long (approx. 100 hours/six months) Beginners Certificate course in any of the foreign languages listed above; (2) a one-year (approx. 200 hours-long) Advanced Diploma course; and (3) a two-years’ Diploma Course in each Language. Classes in each course will be held on two days every week from over 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. / 6 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. on any two weekdays/Saturdays, largely depending on the convenience of the learners.

There is a consolidated course-fee of Rs. 7500/- only per language course in each semester of approx. 100 Hours/6-months duration.
Certificates/ Diploma will be awarded directly by SISTER NIVEDITA UNIVERSITY.
Admissions are open now and classes/courses will commence from 28/12/2020.
