Centre for Women''s Studies at SNU seeks to provide an interdisciplinary and comparative framework for the students to study gender related aspects. It enhances the ability to think beyond the traditional outlook regarding gender, sexuality, empowerment and related issues in the contemporary world.

In particular, women''s studies gained prominence out of the conjunction of diverse forces such as women''s struggles for rights, equality, respect, and the state initiatives that critically examined the status of women. A fair influence of these trends within academia, has introduced feminist research in different disciplines across the world.

SNU plans to initiate courses and programmes providing in-depth knowledge to the youth by highlighting issues like empowerment, gender equality, emphasizing on the need for acknowledgement of rights, importance of women''s movement and feminism.
