Considering the growing importance of nutrition as a part of immunity boosting in the present pandemic situation, the university dreamt of contributing to the improvement of the public health status through the Department of Applied Nutrition and Dietetics by attainment of excellence in teaching, research and training of young minds.

The department of Applied Nutrition and Dietetics is a budding division under the School of Life Science in the highly decked campus of Sister Nivedita University. The department is enriched by the presence of highly qualified and well educated faculty members and staff who have completed their education at different Institute/University of global repute. Smart classroom facility and well equipped laboratory make learning the subject more interesting and enjoyable. Application based learning makes the students more curious, innovative and enthusiastic about the subject. Our departmental library facility serves the students to fulfil their quest for knowledge. The entire under graduate syllabus is structured according to the CBCS format recommended by University Grant Commission (UGC). . The curriculum is designed exclusively to help students in their future career development and includes a number of laboratory and field practical course units. The syllabus encompasses highly modern topics like Nutraceuticals and Nutrigenomics, Molecular biology, Sports nutrition, Patient counselling technique, Public Health Nutrition, Nutritional epidemiology, Food standard and Quality Control, Food service and Customer Economics and Immunology. Students are encouraged to undertake a research project under the supervision of academic staffs. We motivate students to participate in different science exhibitions and competitions, hackathon and science fair. The faculty and staff members at the university go out of their way to enhance the knowledge and skills of students and above all to mold them into sensible and socially responsible human being.

Done my graduation and postgraduation in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from Gokhale Memorial Girls' College and SNDT University,Mumbai respectively. Worked as an Invited Lecturer at Gokhale Memorial Girls' College for 1.5 years. Pursuing PhD on value added food product development at Jadavpur University, Dept. Of Food Technology and Biochemical Engineering.

Shreyasi Halder

I have done M.Sc. (Food and Nutrition) from University of Calcutta (C.U) in 2015, followed by a B.Ed. from C.U. (2017) and presently pursuing my Ph.D. from C.U. I have been awarded JRF by UGC, 2016. Also, I have been awarded Uma Mukherjee Memorial Scholarship by University of Calcutta, 2013 and the Post- Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holder by UGC, 2013. I had been a Visiting Faculty in Amity University, Kolkata and prior to that a Guest Lecturer in the Department of Home Science, University of Calcutta.

My Areas of Research Interests are medicinal plants and herbs, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Low-cost nutritious food etc.

I have presently 7 publications in peer reviewed international and national journals, 1 book chapter with ISBN. According to Google Scholar, citations: 10, h-index:3

Arpita Banerjee

She has completed her graduation and post-graduation in Food and Nutrition from University of Calcutta, where she stood first-class-second and first-class-third, respectively. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. degree in Food and Nutrition from University of Calcutta.

Invited as an evaluator in Food Corporation of India for Nutrition month celebration. Currently I'm Pursuing PhD on Food microbiology at Sister Nivedita University.
