On February 9, 2024, at Sister Nivedita University, the India Regional Bootcamp for the Solution Challenge, Kolkata Edition, was hosted for the very first time. Spearheaded by Ankana Chakraborty, Lead of Google DSC SNU, this event was a collaborative effort by the Google Developers Student Club Chapter at Sister Nivedita University’s Department of Computer Science Engineering.
Marking a significant milestone, this event was the first of its scale in West Bengal, drawing participants from various cities across India through invitation only.
Notable figures such as Nikita Gandhi, the Community Manager of Google for Developers program in India, and Bhavani Mahapatra from Team Google, along with industry experts Aritra Saha, Sayan Paul, Somyabroto Banerjee, Raunak Raj, Soham Dutta, Rahul Singh, and Nilanjan Sen, congregated to mentor and guide the participants.
The India Regional Bootcamps for Solution Challenge served as in-person support sessions, strategically organized across 10 cities in India. These sessions aimed to refine project solutions before their final submission for global consideration, with the objective of selecting the top 100 solutions worldwide.
The Solution Challenge, a global hackathon sponsored by Google for Developers, tasks participants with addressing one or more of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, utilizing Google Technologies to innovate solutions.
The Google DSC Sister Nivedita University chapter, a student-driven, open-source, non-profit organization, is dedicated to Google technologies and community engagement. It serves as a platform to unite like-minded individuals and foster collaboration.
